These are advertisements taken from the Peninsula Enterprise at the turn of
the 20th Century. Since broadcast radio didn't appear until the 1920's and
broadcast television didn't appear until the 1940's, the newspaper was the
primary media for advertising products. A lot of the advertisements in the
Peninsula Enterprise were business to business and it is feasible that the Saxis Island merchants frequently read these advertisements. Watermen may have viewed the advertisements in search of a new distrubutor for their catches or Saxis citizens may have viewed them in search of a new appliance or perhaps the latest fashions. They will help give the viewer a brief glimpse into the lives of the Saxis Island people between 1885 and 1910.
